– Advertising campaign, art direction
This project was undertaken as a collaborative project with a team of 3 other designers. The assignment was to create a three part advertisement campaign for the San Francisco Zoo, including 3 print ads for the San Francisco Chronicle (9.75" x 20" in dimension), an environmental ad, and a 30 second commercial.
The campaign is intended for parents of young children, and particularly local already living in or near the San Francisco Bay Area, with the goal of portraying the zoo as an exciting and wholesome destination for family fun.
We decided on the slogan "GET WILD!", with the intended message of getting more wild into your life by visiting your local zoo, because it's closer then you think.
To successfully communicate this message we chose to create a series of fun advertisement showing wild animals from the zoo in classic San Francisco locations. We also came up with a concept for a series of environmental sidewalk ads in the form of large animal foot prints. Each footprint is from a different animal and contains the species name as well as an ad for the zoo (of course!).
Our 30 second commercial continues the theme of "getting wild!" and shows multiple montages of wild animals in the city. In some scenes, they interact with the locals, like when a little girl plays with penguins in her backyard to her mothers surprise or when a giraffe licks a little boys ice cream cone then leads him to the zoo. You can see the story board in full detail to the left.
