I am an avid adventurer and communicator. At Humboldt State University, I’m studying Environmental Education and Graphic Design; I particularly enjoy structuring information interestingly or understandably, sometimes both.
Summer 2014, I was an Interpretive Forest Ranger in Stanislaus, and I’ve worked with several elementary schools in Humboldt County to provide Environmental Education that fits with 3rd Generation Science Standards. I designed a campaign to get recreational users to manage leash their dogs in the water; this involved “Good Dog” buttons designed in Adobe Illustrator and a fact sheet for Rangers. For elementary schools in Humboldt County, I created a program that focuses on Humans and Biodiversity with my partner Trevor Denson and the guidance and advice of Lecturer Jennifer Tarlton.
In the next month, I am finishing my degree by focusing on Environmental Education and graphic design with some studies into research determining which types of outreach are most effective. I will also be wrapping up my co-presidency of the only student-lead Redwood Chapter of Environmental Educators and Interpreters. Throughout the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters, I organized regular Sustainable Forestry Programs (Talk About Trees), several Environmental Education day’s for local elementary schools (including March for Parks 2015), and funded the club through outreach and donation opportunities. This year our Club will be managing the Commencement Refreshments for Humboldt State.
Throughout my education at Humboldt State University, I have relied on various programs I have been taught through Graphic Design to organize information, consider Typography, and achieve the best comprehension from my target audience with advice from Professor Ricardo Febre and his student aids.
