This map displays the location of Twitter users that made tweets using the word "turkey" on July 16th, 2016, the day of the failed coup in Turkey. The map shows 12,767 tweets that were acquired in a 7 minute period using Python. Tweepy was used to download the tweets, GeoPy to geocode them, and BlueSpray to convert them to geojson.

Click the mouse cursor icon on the upper left of the map pane and then click a point to see the user, tweet, and their location. The intended audience for this map is anyone interested in the event's occurence and what normal people thought and said about it.
