Overview: The movement patterns and habitat selection of female Roosevelt elk on the Hoko Game Management Unit, Washington were monitored between April 2000 and February 2000. Seven distinct elk herds were identified, from which a total of 14 female elk were radiocollared.
The objectives of this investigation were to: 1) assess the large scale habitat
selection of Roosevelt elk; 2) establish the size, distribution and arrangement
of individual and heard home ranges and core areas; 3) and quantify movement
patterns as they relate to hunting and logging activities on the Hoko Game Management
Unit
