Mark S. Wilson

Some of the ways that I have fun here in upstate California, besides teaching and doing research, and spending time with my friends, are: hiking, birding, playing ultimate, playing with my dog, playing bridge, backpacking, gardening, reading, quilting and woodworking.

Here are some pics of recent quilts and woodworking projects

Here's me, my brothers Kevin, Billy, and John, and my nephews Michael and Ryan, during a backpacking trip in the Wind River Range of Wyoming, in the Summer of 2001.  On the bottom is Mikey at The Cirque of the Towers.

Me, Patty and Puddinhead are on top with my niece Shannon, while my sister Anne and brother John, with their spouses Marian and Jim, and another niece, Katie, below.

Puddinhead Wilson, as a pup and a more recent shot of him in the Trinities.

here's a HUGE movie of puddinhead and his buddy otter (may crash your computer - it's 15Mb)

Patty and I went to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, summer 2002. There's a great lava flow from Kilauea Volcano in the background.  Flowing lava from the molten center of the earth is about as cool as it gets...

I took this picture, of the same lava flow.  I  took it right off of the USGS's website on Kilauea.

While doing my postdoc in Idaho I worked on a genetic engineering project designed to find ways to reduce the susceptibility of potato crops to soil nematode damage.

Patty and I finally got to see a Sasquatch last summer in the Trinities. This big guy emerged from the woods while we were filtering water in a creek. Wouldn't you know it, though, this was the last picture on the roll in my point-n-shoot, and the sound of the motor rewinding the film startled him and he left. Still, it was great to see such a magnificent creature.
