Map of Humboldt State University campus

Description

This map was first constructed in Arc map then inputted into Illustrator to fix details. In Arc Map, I used a base map to digitize buildings, streets, pathways, and dense treed areas, to get the layout of HSU. Next, imported a special symbol to use for the representation for the trees. After the digitizing process, basic map elements were added, like a title, scale bar, and north arrow. Next the map was imported into Adobe Illustrator. The map built skills in Illustrator using the color, eyedropper tool, text tool, hand tool, and other basic tools to gain experience using the program. Learning to delete clipping paths, change color of specific items, ungrouping items, inserting an image, and editing size and font of text are specific examples of what tools were used. If this map was printed out, people navigating campus could generally know the location of the buildings on the map.
