I was born and raised in the Bronx, where I graduated from the Bronx High School of Science. I received a bachelor's degree from Bryn Mawr College and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Minnesota. I'm married to Michael Eldridge, another English department faculty member; our son Miles Frederick Eldridge was born in June of 2003.
