MHOCA has arranged for several contingency prizes from merchants and travel agencies for those placing first and second in the three major categories, including a trip for two from the Karl and Groucho Travel Agency to Stuttgart (including tours of residential neighborhoods and parking garages in both Bonn and Stuttgart) for five days to the winner of the People's Choice Award. We will also have a new category this year for pre-1930 hood ornaments, and with enough participation will make this a permanent category. (Replicar SSK's will still go in the Plastic and Miscellaneous category.) The results of the Eugene-Springfield Ornamentless M-B census will be available by show time--preliminary figures suggest that while we are making progress, there is still a long way to go.
Aside from exhibit tables, presentations this year will include the Heinrich Waismann videotape made during the factory raid in Stuttgart last July by the Berlin chapter, two academic papers with discussions ("Symbols of the Class System: The NonMarxist Approaches," by Dr. Michel Foucault; and "Evidence and Fraud in the Alleged Beginnings of the Three-Pointed Star in Ancient Egypt," by Robin Collingwood) and our regular potluck on the top floor of the Hult Center Parking Garage.
