Design Problem

Build a brand for a fictional hobby magazine. The masthead should be one word. Create a three cover series that have an overall consistent look-and-feel. Use original or borrowed art.

Design Solution

I decided to go with a hiking magazine and my magazine was called BOOTS. This would be for any level hiker, but it would focus towards an age group of late 20s to 40s, male or female. The first design element I used to catch the attention of the audience was using boot prints for the Os in BOOTS. Each of the photos I used for the cover featured prominent shoes or boots. I wanted each of the magazines in the series to feature a different aspect of hiking or area of hiking, so that was featured in the images used as well. The images are iconic enough to recognize the magazine on its own but the masthead is also brightly colored to stand out and catch the audiences eye as well.
