Broadside Poster

Broadside Poster

Fall 2015

– broadside, slab serif, 18th century, Sylvester, Tweety

Design Problem

Produce a traditional 18th-century broadside boxing poster putting one fictional or real character against another. Be sure to include date, time, and advertising jargon. This poster should only use two Pantone+ colors.

Design Solution

When I think two fictional characters battling each other I think of Sylvester and Tweety chasing each other back and forth. I used orange to represent Tweety, who is usually yellow, and black to represent Sylvester, who is black and white. I used a variety of slab serif fonts to hold the 18th-century feel. I chose to use images of Sylvester and Tweety where they both looked upset to hold the boxing feel.
