My name is Josh Martinez, I come from Porterville, California (Central Valley). The highschool I attended was part of Project Lead the Way (PLTW), the National Academy Foundation (NAF), and the National Action Counsel for Minorities in Engineering (NACME). It was the rural school to be a part of these foundations and offered two academies for students to go into, Perfroming Arts and Engineering. All of my electives in high school were designed to teach the basics of certain engineering disciplines. The courses I took were: Intro to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Civil Engineering and Architecure, and Digital Electronics. I've learned the basics of each (ex. Using Revit design software, AutoCad Inventor, soldering/basic building of circuits, etc.). I've had a one month internship with a neighboring city, where I shadowed and performed basic duties within the water/waste water department.
