Nuclear Energy

Student PhotoI am a Sophomore at Humboldt State University. I am majoring in Environmental Resources Engineering. My favorite subjects are math and physics. I am from McKinleyville California, and received a Diploma of the International Baccalaureate. After graduating from HSU I want to study Nuclear Engineering. I enjoy backpacking, camping, biking, running, canoeing, and kayaking. I am no good at taking pictures because I dont really stop moving (or maybe I just look funny). I also enjoy reading about new scientific developments and discoveries and learning more math and physics. A guilty pleasure of mine would be playing video games during my free time (if there is any!). I am currently unemployed but I hope to get a part time job in the near future.

Work and Volunteer experience:

The only official job I have had was a temporary position in Willow Creek California during the summer of 2010. I worked as a laborer for the Youth Conservation Corps for 8 weeks. It was a positive experience that made me a more responsible and motivated person.

I volunteered for the Klamath-Siskiyou Outdoor School (KSOS) in Happy Camp California as a Junior Conselor. Originally the job was a paid position, but I declined my pay so the orginization could spend more on the activities and equiptment for the camp. KSOS is a week long camp for 12-16 year olds to learn about conserving the local environment and teaches kids how to build fish ladders and to remove invasive species through an active experience while rafting and backpacking.

For two years I was the Treasurer for the McKinleyville High School Kinetic Sculpture Team that supported Betty Chinn. Besides managing our fundraisers and money spending I was the liason between our engineering team and our art team to ensure that both peices of work would come together in the end. Being Treasusurer put me in a good position for this responsibility because I managed money going out to both groups (while making sure we had some left over to donate to betty Chinn) which meant I had to be part of the planning of both teams .
