Data Collection
Research Participants must be randomly selected from participant pool 
available, e.g. rats in lab, Introductory Psych students, dept pool, and 
randomly assigned to groups.  Procedures of selection and assignment are 
reported in write up.
How many Participants?  Enough needed to detect an effect caused by IV.
Power is probability of rejecting a false-null hypothesis.  As sample size 
increases, cost in money and time increase.  Determined by probability level 
(alpha), sample size, and effect size (magnitude of the relation between IV and 
DV expressed as the correlation between them and can be estimated from the 
literature.)
