Establishing your credibility

All of your classmates realize that your speech is more than a speech, it is a research project. We expect that you will bring a lot of external sources to your speech.

Give us an overview of any personal experience you have with the topic area.
Give us a clear and concise overview of your research on the topic.
- Saying, "I've done a lot of research in the Library..." is not sufficient.
- State your best sources of information.
- Let us know if you've done an interview.
This can be done in a sentence or two

! =	SUPERIOR	You gave the impression that you have done solid and thorough research on your topic.
+ =	EFFECTIVE	You clearly established in your introduction that you are qualified to speak on your topic.
+ =	PROBLEMATIC	Your statements to establish credibility were too general or vague.
– =	DETRIMENTAL	You did not seem, in the introduction, really prepared in an academic way for your speech.
EXPØRES	EXPERIENCE NOT RESEARCH	You related your personal experience with the topic, which is good, but we need to also know the depth of your research for better credibility.
