Language choices appropriate to your topic.

Your textbook states that you should never underestimate or overestimate what your audience knows about your topic.

Avoid language that is too technical and dense; it makes for difficult listening.
Don't talk down to your audience with language choices that are too simplified.
Steer clear of biased language, offensive language and slang.
Use sensory imagery.
Be creative: use rhythmic and literary language devices.
Remember to respect your classmates the the college setting.
