Information for prospective students
Graduate students in my lab design and conduct research that answers specific questions in applied fisheries (conservation or management) and/or addresses an important basic question in ecology. A suitable project should produce material for at least one publication in a fisheries or ecology journal.I will advertise positions when I have funding available for specifc projects. Funded positions generally include a modest stipend and some support for tuition. I will consider applications from students who want to develop their own projects, but funding may not be available to start with.
If you are interested in applying, review my recent research and publications to be sure our interests are compatible. Send me an email outlining your research interests and relevant experience. Include a current CV. Competitive applicants will have some field experience, a solid statistical or quantitative background, and good writing skills. Note that Humboldt has a minimum undergraduate 3.0 GPA requirement and you must take the GRE exam.
