My name is David Douglas. I am currently a student at Humboldt State University. I am in the Environmental Resource Engineering program. The reason I chose this major is it most closely connects with my love of sustainable technologies. I feel that with modern technologies a person’s home should provide for the inhabitants instead of being a drain on them.
I hate paying for services that could be built into the design of the house. I am interested in energy collection from other sources than the power companies. I also think want to learn more about rammed earth construction and ultimately build my own home out of rammed earth. Power it with solar and wind. Heat it with geothermal heat pumps. Then build two underground roman style water cisterns for the water needs of the home.
I have been a helicopter mechanic for 6 years. I have worked with hydraulics and electrical systems and mechanical system interactions as part of a 1000 hour rebuild team. I was part of a flight crew with numerous flight hours. I can build most things with wood or metal.
