Additional Links and Time Wasters
Here are a bunch of web sites I like. Some of them are useful, others an enjoyable waste of time.
- Research Experience for Undergraduates
- This web site allows you to search for summer research opportunities that are funded by the National Science Foundation's Research Experience for Undergraduates Program. This is one of the first places you should look if you are looking for a summer internship performing science
- Biocompass
- A good source with career information for students considering working in the biotechnology industry.
- Society for Neuroscience
- If you're even going to pretend to be a neuroscientist, you need to know about this site.
- American Association for the Advancement of Science
- The largest scientific society in the United States. Publisher of Science magazine.
- CSUPERB
- The California State University Program for Education and Research in Biotechnology. CSUPERB programs include an annual Biotechnology Conference, several grant programs, and award programs that recognize both students and faculty for their contributions to biotechnology.
- BdellaNea
- A blog about leeches - what could be more wonderful! Lots of interesting tidbits about some of my favorite animals.
- Worm Book
- More than any normal person should want to know about the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. But I never claimed to be normal.
- BIODIDAC
- Need an illustration of something biological? It's probably here.
- The Yuckiest Site on The Internet
- The name says it all. The star of the show is Wendell, worm reporter.
- I Can Has Cheezeburger
- If you haven't wasted nearly enough time in your life, here's the remedy. It helps if you like cats.
- Happy Chair is Happy
- Another great time waster - but this time with real neurobiological relevance. The human brain will find faces almost anywhere!
