Tribal Affiliation
and Lineage I
am Muscogee Creek, matrilineally descended from the Wind Clan with
relations in Oklahoma and Alabama. My
ancestral talwa is Tukabatchee, located within the political borders
of what is now eastern Alabama. Two notable Muscogees who number among my
ancestors are Alexander McGillivray and Red Eagle (William Weatherford)
– both are matrilineal uncles. Muscogee Culture The
study of Muscogee Creek language, traditional hand crafts and tribal
history are long-term undertakings and are vital to respecting the culture
of my ancestors and maintaining my identity. Continuous reclamation and
revitalization of my pre-contact Muscogee heritage is a personal goal.
