Spring, 2015
– print, design, typography, poster
For this assignment I was to create a poster for the Jungalbook production; a play based on a boy who is raised by wild animals and struggles to accept his humanity. In addition to a production poster, I was to collaborate with a group of four to develop a unifying border (as shown above) to unite each production being put on in the 2015 school year. For the poster design I wanted to go with a minimalist design that represented the play well. The tiger, Sherkhan, is one of the main characters, and is a very powerful force in the story. I chose to use only the orange because so often tigers remain unseen in their environment until they want to be and the green background to represent the jungle. Using the font at the top of the page threw off the balance of the poster, so I chose to use the flow of the tigers tail to frame the title/director name to keep balance.
